The project intends to provide teachers and professional educators in FVG with an in-depth knowledge of the paths and trends that characterize the processes of radicalization and violent extremism in relation to and in reaction to migration.
The goal of the project, funded by the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, is to provide teachers, educators and social workers involved in the training with an in-depth knowledge of the paths and trends that characterize the processes of radicalization and violent extremism of various kinds, providing to train them on the techniques and tools to recognize the first signs of radicalization among students in order to prevent radicalization starting from the schools in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. Following a more comprehensive and global approach to the analysis of the phenomenon, the project is not limited to investigating extremism of a jihadist matrix, often more widespread and traceable among some communities of the first or second generation of immigration, but also that close to the environments of extreme right which, in many cases, is born, develops and nourishes itself in reaction to migratory waves.
Based on these premises, the specific objectives of the project will be the following: • promote among teachers of secondary schools, educators and social workers an in-depth understanding of youth radicalization and violent extremism and how this arises and develops, with a particular focus on the context of the FVG; • determine the impact of social polarization and violent extremism on secondary school youth in the region; • provide school staff in secondary schools with the appropriate tools to identify the first signs of radicalization and prevent violent extremism from an early age; • create a document that collects the strategies for identifying the first signs of radicalization in schools and that acts as a model for teachers in the various schools.
