AM Asfaque Arain: After initial education, he joined PAF in 1975 and did his BSc from Pakistan Air Force College Sargodha. After graduating from PAF Academy Risalpur, he completed his Fighter Conversion and Operational Conversion Courses. Later he flew F-6, F-16 and F-7 P aircraft. He is a proficient fighter pilot holding the singular honour of becoming the first PAF pilot to attain 2000 hrs mark on the F-16 aircraft. He has served as an Instructor in F-16 Operational Conversion Unit and Chief Instructor (F-16) in the coveted Combat Commander’s School. He commanded an F-16 Squadron and a Fighter Base of PAF.
On Staff assignments he has served as Quality Assurance Officer, Flight Safety Officer, and Staff Operations Officer at an Operational Base. At the Air Headquarters, he has served as Deputy Director Operations, Director Operations and Director Strategic Operations. In the senior staff appointments, he has worked as Chief Project Director Project Horizon, Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Operations), Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Plans), Director General Projects, Director General Air Force Strategic Command. He also served as an Air Attaché at Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, India. Presently he is holding the office of Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Admin) at the Air Headquarters, Islamabad.
Air Marshal M Ashfaque Arain is a graduate of Combat Commanders School, PAF Air War College and National Defence University. He holds Master’s degrees in Strategic Studies as well as Defence and Strategic Studies. He is a keen sportsman who actively participates in Golf. He is married and blessed with two sons. In recognition of his meritorious and exceptionally dedicated service, he has been decorated with the awards of Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military), Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Sitara-i-Basalat.
