Since they were founded and began to proliferate, jihadist terrorist organizations have shown a great ability to evolve and adapt to changes in the geopolitical scenario and in the societies in which they operate. This is especially true for Daesh which has been able to create an authentic proto-state in Syria and Iraq and has strategically used the weapon of communication as a force multiplier. Propaganda was precisely one of the tools that allowed Daesh to survive after the death of al-Baghdadi and after the military defeat in Syria and Iraq. The project aims to understand how the jihadist propaganda machine evolved after 2017 both at the operational level and at the narrative and content level. In fact, behind the evolution of communication methodology and narratives hides the ability to understand the vulnerabilities of society and individuals, show that they have survived Western action and, ultimately, continue to attract proselytes. In addition to analyzing the communication dynamics and their political impacts, the project intends to provide policy suggestions and recommendations to national institutions engaged in the prevention and fight against terrorism.
