The objective of the course is to enable the attendees to correctly read, interpret and analyse the dynamics of international events.
The course is targeted to a varied audience: to those interested in an international career, in institutions or in private/public companies; to those aiming to master certain aspects of their job and interested in new instruments for their professional growth; to those simply aiming to perfect their preparation on international issues, beyond traditional academic schemes.
The course will be divided into three main areas: Geopolitics, Security and Defence, each of them analysed according to the relevance and importance of certain dynamics for the strategic interests of Italy. The first topic (geopolitics) will address the main events of the current global scenario, favouring their careful consideration and thorough analysis by the participants. Depending on the development of the current scenario, in fact, lectures will be prepared according to the most recent news and the participants will be invited to analyse the main related geopolitical dynamics. To this purposes, the daily work of the Institute’s analysts will be helpful in favouring a more dynamic approach, so to make the shift between learning and practice more fluid and osmotic. In order to achieve this result, participants will be requested to bring their own laptop, so to make the course more interactive and to better process the acquired information. The second topic (security) will be addressed by several experts, who will discuss with the participants a number of related major issues. Finally, the third topic (defence) will see the intervention of experts in planning and strategy, from some of the main Italian companies of the Defence sector.
Lessons will be of two types: the first one will include a series of lectures and an exercise at the end, so to practice and test the understanding by the participants of current political and security-related dynamics; the second type will include a series of direct contributions by relevant personalities from national institutions, Armed Forces and defence industry, who will be able to share their insights and first-hand knowledge, thanks to their professional experience.

Each lecture will have a duration of four hours, out of which three will be dedicated to learning and one to practical exercises. Otherwise, lectures will have a duration of two hours.
In the framework of the practical exercises, participants will be requested to write brief reports, which may be published on the Institute’s website, if deemed of appropriate quality by the staff.
The course will begin on February 1st, 2016 and it will run for five months. Lessons will take place on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, at the Institute’s premises.
Price is EUR 1.500 + VAT, to be paid in a single solution at registration or in two instalments of EUR 750 + VAT, to be paid at registration and at mid-course.
The maximum number of participants for each course is 10 persons.
